I own digital graphic design, a print, prepress & web solutions firm in Kimberly, WI. This video is an intro on how we can help you. No strings, no kidding! I want to be a resource to help fix some of your toughest software/hardware issues! Here’s your chance to pick the brain of someone with over 25 years in the print and interactive businesses! Check it out!
Right now, I’m struggling with balancing time between my full time prepress profession, my part-time freelance web/print design firm, family responsibilities and keeping my job skills up to date for the print/web world.
Suffice it to say, learning new software / programming languages outside my full time job is extremely difficult. I have freelance work to do, including REALLY revamping my own web presence (with video and other goodies). But I can’t legitimately put client work on the back burner, especially since my free time out of work is so limited.
I am spending time with my family at home plus church events, athletic and academic events outside of their regular school day, plus helping my wife with household things (since she’s trying to get her HR/Supply Chain / Finance degree). But trying to balance all of this and not feel further behind is getting pretty frustrating. I do want to know more about ActionScripting in Flash CS4, and setting up remote asset mgmt. databases in FileMaker. Brushing up on my CSS to make it more compact and learning more about JavaScript, PHP, JQuery are also high priorities.
Time, so precious a commodity, but so difficult to divide and use wisely…. I’ll have more on this (hopefully time for a video snippet to augment my ramblings).

This is the time of year I usually relish. The main reason is that it’s Macworld Keynote time! But, alas, with no Steve Jobs, I felt a little down.
Though most of the announcements were very good, not having Jobs (plus it being the last Macworld with Apple) had me waxing nostalgic.
I am looking to upgrade my CS3 apps. One because I have my largest client upgrading to ID CS4, but also due to the “arm-twisting” pricing Adobe is doing to get you to upgrade. (need to upgrade by end of Feb.) The only bright spot is that I probably won’t have to upgrade my Quark anymore! Will gradually work my way to changing all my Quark layouts to ID.
My G5 tower is getting a little long in the tooth. Part of me wants to get a new tower, but those are getting more than a little pricey. In keeping costs down, I think I may lean toward an iMac. It has more processing power than my present G5 plus it’s a lower cost alternative vs. a Mac Pro. Already have a 2GHz MacBook Pro for the working road trips.
Any thoughts on the hardware/software comments? I’d enjoy the feedback. Have a great day!
This is my latest version of my web / print / life related blog. This version is targeted to have more content (video, hopefully RSS/podcasts) to bring more value to your digital world.
Constant change in web standards, printing technology and the software/hardware portion of this digital world gets pretty darn confusing.
My goal is to share my knowledge with you. I pledge to bring the most in value to you.
I dedicate this to my family and to my friends, who put up with my ramblings incessantly. Nothing can happen without 3 things: love, passion and faith (thankful I have a Savior that loves me for the screwball that I am!)
Special shout out to my sources of promotional wisdom, Dave Backman of Regal Publications and Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library. If you want to find new ways to promote yourself, they’re the shizz.
